Summer of Transformation

Snow is falling as I look out my window today, yet I know that summer will be here in a blink.  And you know what that means, right?

If summertime means a hiatus from your small groups program, you're missing a valuable opportunity to reach into your community and engage your congregation in the fun and fulfillment of summer groups!

This month, we'll be sharing ideas with our SpiritGroup Program Leaders for customizing your small group experience for summer.  Why is this so important?

  • When groups take a "break," you create a gap in your Engagement Strategy (learn more in our Engagement Mastermind program).
  • When groups take a "break," they are seen as a program rather than as infrastructure of your ministry. (And, let's face it, if you take a break, that's really what it is!).
  • When groups take a "break" they lose the opportunity to support and be supported through their small group family. Life does not take a break in the summer. So why should your groups?

The SpiritGroups summer season provides a lot of flexibility for groups without throwing the infrastructure out the window. It's a great time to focus on social events and service projects.  Movie-viewing groups are quite popular.  As are group field trips, book clubs, and sea-side meditations.

What do YOUR SpiritGroups have planned this summer? What have your done in the past to keep your groups engaged? Share your ideas below for leading your SpiritGroups into a summer of love and transformation!
